According to the memoirs of William Aitkenhead, he emigrated in 1869, first to Carthage, Missouri, then to Elk City, Kansas. Farmed at Severy, Kansas.

Anecdote

According to the birth records of the children Anne and James were married in Kilbride in June 1851. According to her obituary they were married in Glasgow on 20 January 1849. According to the IGI (source reel 1066591- Kilbride marriage records ) they were married 7 July 1851 (Maybe when banns were finished?). James filed his declaration of intent of naturalisation in Montgomery County, KS 1 October 1873. No actual naturalization papers were found. They came to US in 1868-69 and lived i n Jasper Co, MO with brother Peter.
